Today’s Order: Hill Country

The Order:

It was raining and the tourney was starting. There was no way that we were going out anywhere for lunch. The only question was where to order from. The answer? Hill Country. BBQ and basketball are a perfect combo and since watching the computer screen during lunch doesn’t require typing, messy hands wouldn’t be a problem.

Hill Country has only a few lunch specials in addition to the regular menu, but I feel like it’s pretty hard to figure out how many pounds of brisket I can eat without seeing it cut up in front of me. Given this, AnnMarie and I both quickly gravitated toward the Barbecue Beef Sandwich Lunch Special and we each ordered it with Mac and Cheese and a Diet Coke. Cute, right?

The Meal:

The food arrived on time in a big Hill Country delivery bag. When we looked inside, we saw a lot of stuff (seriously, there were four sets of silverware), but nothing looked like a sandwich. We were about to panic when we realized that we actually got more fun than we bargained for. Turns out this lunch special was a make your own sandwich deal, so we took out the Texas toast, the meat, and the sauce to put together a couple of homemade lunches.

After polishing off the sandwiches and the accompanying delicious mac and cheese, there was still plenty of extra meat, so we donated that to our needy stomachs as well.

On the whole, we enjoyed a very filling meal and got a good value for the amount of food that came with the order. When you’re looking to order BBQ in Midtown, look no further than Hill Country.

FYI – We’re located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Hill Country for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
