Today’s Order: Duke’s

Duke's iPhone Thank You

The Order:

In case you didn’t notice, we launched Mobile Ordering on Wednesday. So when lunchtime rolled around today and I was hanging out at the water cooler all the way on the other side of the office, I knew it was time to put my iPhone into action. A quick email exchange with AnnMarie and our ordering decision was made. The restaurant was Duke’s and we settled on a his and hers order of the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich with carrots and The Route 66 Sandwich with fries, respectively. Since it was a beautiful day, we ordered for Pick Up.

The Meal:

After a nice, leisurely stroll to Duke’s and back, it was time to dig in. I was pretty impressed with the packaging, as each sandwich was given its own well-labeled box. As I have mentioned before, I really think that packaging is important for takeout and delivery orders. If the food is all smushed together or it leaks all over the bag, it always detracts from the experience, for obvious reasons. Duke’s took some messy food and packaged it well, so good work on that front.

Duke's - Pulled Pork SandwichAs for the actual food, my pulled pork sandwich was enormous and very good. Soft bun, tender meat, and well sauced. Not surprisingly it was also very messy once it got out of the box. Typing while eating was pretty much out of the question. At least I was able to hold the fork to eat the carrots.

Duke's - Route 66 Sandwich
AnnMarie’s Route 66 Sandwich was not unlike the legendary “Main Street of America”, offering a smooth ride through the flavors of the country, from the turkey of Illinois to the bacon of…who am I kidding? The sandwich had turkey, bacon, cheese, and Russian dressing. What’s not to like? Did I mention it was huge and came with fries?

If you want a massive and filling Southern feast, Duke’s is a wise choice in Midtown East. If you want something different, you might want to reexamine your priorities and then order from somewhere else.

FYI – We’re located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Duke’s for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!

I think AnnMarie needs an iPhone in order to plug the online order.
