The Order:
With AnnMarie away again, our reliable supersub Alyson stepped right up to the plate (zing!) for lunch today. While scrolling through the long list of potential restaurants, I noticed Pera and immediately stopped. We had a winner for three reasons:
- Being so close to our office, Pera is one of those restaurants that people here always pass by and want to try, but never do.
- I saw ads for Pera on the sides of buses around New York this winter. That was probably a pretty expensive venture, so I want to make sure they get some ROI.
- I had a delicious meal at Pera and wanted to see if the delivery was as good.
Once we chose Pera, it was easy to choose two of their most popular dishes for lunch. I went with The Lamburger and Alyson chose the Pera Twists with Chicken. We both ordered Mediterranean fries instead of the side salad.

The Meal:
This was one of the best delivery meals I’ve had in a long time. Alyson wasn’t quite as effusive in her praise and ended up with a case of lunch envy, but let’s break it down:
The meal came right on time and impeccably packaged with high end plastic silverware and neat containers for each sandwich. Plus there were plates, napkins, and ketchup for the fries! As for the food itself, The Lamburger was a triumph in just about every way. The house baked bagel-esque roll was soft and flavorful, the lamb was wonderfully spiced, and the stuffings (feta, olives, tomato) were the perfect extras. And it was huge, so I was plenty full afterwards.
Alyson’s Chicken Pera Twists also had high quality, moist, and delectable meat, but didn’t wow her in the same way The Lamburger wowed me. She would have liked some sort sauce to give it put it over the hump from good to great. However, we both agreed that the fries were among the best we’ve eaten. Beautifully seasoned and the just the right crispiness, these are a must to include in any order from Pera.
Pera is clearly a high-end establishment that completely deserves its five-star rating on SeamlessWeb. The sandwiches are a little more expensive than most usual lunches, but certainly more than worth it if you want to treat yourself to something special!
FYI – We’re located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Pera for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
