Today’s Order: Fagiolini

The Order:

We’re into the theoretical dog days of summer and I can’t believe the season’s almost over! September is secretly really nice weather-wise, but there’s a reason you can’t wear white after Labor Day. With that in mind, I made sure that today’s order would be for pick up. Gotta take advantage of nice weather while it’s still possible. And since Italian food is never out of season, AnnMarie and I decided to try Fagiolini for lunch. Fagiolini offers a full menu of Italian classics, but we both had our hearts set on pasta, Paglia & Fieno (with no mushrooms and extra peas) for her and Rigatoni al Sugo for me.

The Meal:

The food was waiting when I arrived at the restaurant and the walk was lovely, so far so good. As for the actual meal, that was good too. Each portion of pasta came with a medium size salad featuring a fine little vinaigrette and a legit hunk of bread. My rigatoni was very flavorful and heavy on the meat sauce. One thing to be aware of though, as you can see from the photo, is that the sauce had a lot of ground beef in it. I usually prefer bigger chunks of meat if possible, but this still worked out well.

AnnMarie couldn’t believe how much food she had and was impressed that they got her special instructions down perfectly. The heaviness of the cream sauce and the size of the portions meant plenty of leftovers, but hey, two lunches are better than one, right? She was also happy with the salad and bread.

We both enjoyed the meal from Fagiolini and would recommend it as a solid neighborhood Italian place. The lunch pastas are good, affordable and most of all, very filling.

FYI – We’re located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Fagiolini for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders!
