The Order:
If last week’s order was healthy, this week would be even healthier. Our choice? Recharge Juice Bar & Grill. Well-known among NYC’s health-conscious cognoscenti, Recharge offers an extensive menu of wraps, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, pizza…wait, pizza?!

They got me at Low-Carb Pizza and that’s what I ordered. I went with the personal size (a shockingly good deal at $3.95 for a plain) and decided to accompany it with a Sweet Potato on the side and treat myself to the Low-Fat Protein Brownie for dessert. AnnMarie, feeling the chill outside (and in the office), went for a Fall classic, getting a small order of the Lentil Soup.

The Meal:
The food came right on time and in a SeamlessWeb bag, something we always like to see! Everything was neatly packaged and looked delightful. I started with the pizza and definitely enjoyed it. I’m not sure whether it’s low-carb because the crust is so thin, or because it uses whole wheat dough, but either way, I was feelin’ it. It was not greasy, yet still tasty, so I’m impressed no matter how healthy it actually was. The sweet potato on the side was baked and cut into three pieces that were soft on the inside and easy to eat. Getting all the good stuff out of a baked potato can often be a hassle, so it was nice to have a delicious and easily accessible inside for once. I didn’t anticipate it, but I was so full after finishing off my main course that I actually had to wait awhile to eat my brownie. It was worth the wait though, as despite being a low-fat offering, the brownie was still moist and really chocolatey (and full of protein). It was also enormous, so I had plenty to share with everyone, which made me pretty popular.

AnnMarie’s lentil soup was a hearty bowl that ate like a meal. She couldn’t imagine anyone finishing a large. The downside was that it was a little bland to start, but after adding salt and pepper, it got the right flavors. The warm whole-wheat pita that came with it was a nice touch though and further solidified it as a good order.
The healthy qualities of the food may be the selling point, but the taste is as good as anything that’s bad for you. And with extremely reasonable prices, this is one place that we’ll definitely be ordering from again!
FYI – We’re located near Bryant Park in case you want to try Recharge Juice Bar & Grill for yourself or give us recommendations for future orders! There is another Recharge Juice Bar & Grill on the Upper East Side.
