SeamlessWeb All-Pro Foodball Team: Appetizers and Entrées

For the first-time ever, the NFL is holding its all-star game the week before its biggest game, so for the first-time ever, SeamlessWeb is proud to announce its All-Pro Foodball Team!

Featuring the best and brightest football players whose names can be used to create food-related puns, we’re leading off today with the Appetizers and Entrées sections. Stay tuned for Sides, Beverages, Condiments, and Desserts later this week.

Appetizers

Shonn “Fried” Greene “Tomatoes” – RB, New York Jets: Most fans didn’t think that this rookie running back would be ready to contribute regularly until next year, but as his breakout performance in the playoffs proved, sometimes good things come to those who don’t wait! And the same thing is true when it comes to picking the green, unripe tomatoes for this classic southern starter. You can find some great versions at many SeamlessWeb restaurants, including Brother Jimmy’s, Wildwood BBQ, and many others.

Antrel “Spring” Rolle – FS, Arizona Cardinals: This five-year veteran was recently named to his first Pro Bowl and while he is often the last line of defense on the field, his namesake appetizer is often the first thing that diners eat when they order from various Asian restaurants. Whether it’s the special spring rolls from Tao, Shanghai style from Mr. K’s, or any other variety under the sun, this starter should make your meal a memorable one!

Entrées

Ben Roethlis”burger” – QB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Playing through pain all season long, Big Ben still managed to put up monster numbers and prove himself to be one of the most reliable quarterbacks in the league. Kind of like the burger, always one of SeamlessWeb’s most popular orders across the board from old standbys like Jackson Hole to newer joints like Black Iron Burger Shop.

Matt “Roast” Turk”ey” – P, Houston Texans: He may be over 40, but this punter still booms kicks with the best of ‘em in the NFL, and he rarely lets up a big return. Roast turkey meanwhile is one of the versatile meats on any SeamlessWeb menu, perfect as the centerpiece of a Thanksgiving feast or the main meat of an everyday sandwich. Lenny’s or ‘wichcraft might be good places to start, but the more you look around, the more you’ll see turkey everywhere!

Raheem “Chicken with” Brock”oli” – DE, Indianapolis Colts: Playing as a change of pace to superstars Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, Brock is looking to win the title for a second time next Sunday. But you won’t need think twice before ordering this Chinese classic from Shun Lee Palace, Szechuan Gourmet, or one of our many other Chinese restaurants serving up winning combinations.

Big ups to James C. for writing most of this post.
