Today’s Order: Alfonso’s House of Lasagna

The Order:

I was flying solo today and feeling a bit like Garfield, minus Garfield. So what menu did I pull up? Alfonso’s House of Lasagna of course! And despite their extensive list of Italian options, you and I both know that my choices were limited to the six lasagnas. The duck (d’Anitra) and pork shoulder (Rustica) sounded delicious, but I opted for the ultimate classic, Lasagna alla Bolognese. It came with a house salad too so I could feel a little better about all that meat and cheese.

The Meal:

The food arrived promptly and neatly packaged, with a full size plastic fork and knife. A serious delivery meal demands that kind of attention to detail because I ain’t eatin’ my lasagna with no tiny fork and knife. I started with the salad because that’s what civilized people do. I understand that it was just a house salad, so I wasn’t expecting anything grand, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The lettuce was dry and the veggies were nothing special. Although I will give it up for the Italian dressing which I really liked and made the whole salad much more palatable.

On to the main event. Alfonso’s delivered a nice healthy piece of lasagna, surrounded by plenty of extra meat sauce. The proportions of sauce to cheese to noodle were all on point and that stuff just tasted good, ya know? It was the kind of dish I’d like to eat before going into hibernation (which is kind of what I want to do for the winter anyway). A very filling and satisfying meal.

So on the whole, Alfonso’s House of Lasagna was exactly what I wanted it to be: a comforting, tasty, and substantial lunch! I’m looking forward to trying their other lasagna specialties.
