Mystery Revealed: Galaktoboureko from Galaxy Cafe

Last week, we challenged you to take a culinary leap of faith. Let’s see how it went.

“But, for mine own part, it was Greek to me.”  Do you think they had the galaktoboureko in Shakespeare’s time? I don’t know about that, but what I do know is that after last week’s post, we were curious to see exactly what was going on with this dessert! So with that in mind, our very own dessert expert Dana stepped up to the plate and ordered away:

I actually recommended this dish for “Demystifying the Menu”, so I felt that it was my duty to give it a shot. And with the horrible weather last night, the stars were aligned for my order from Galaxy Cafe (sorry, I just couldn’t resist that pun)! When the galaktoboureko arrived, I found out that it was a warm and flaky phyllo dough crusted pastry with a custard center. And to my pleasant surprise it came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a thin stripe of chocolate sauce! The hot and cold combo was impressively packaged so that each part of the dish maintained its consistency until it was time to eat. In the end was the galaktoboureko outerworldly? No. But it was pretty tasty!
